State Tournament Coaching Requirements

In order for any coach to be on the bench during the upcoming Tier 1-A and Tier 2-A  Bantam and, Peewee  State Tournament you must be patched at the minimum of USA Hockey Level 2. If the head coach is not patched at level 2 then a roster change must be made this week placing a properly patched coach on the team roster in order to participate in the upcoming state tournaments. The coach must be present and on the bench during the entire tournament. For each coach that participates on the bench , who is not properly patched, that association will receive a $250 fine. If you are not properly credentialed for the state tournament, there is a very distinct possibility that you may receive a serious fine and your team may not be allowed to play in the tournament.  I am sorry to report this information to you at this point, however, each associations director of coaching has been aware of this requirement since August of 2000.

I have also been informed that at the Squirt level there must be one coach patched at level 2 and all others must be patched at level 1. There will be no fines at the squirt level for having coaches on the bench who are patched in accordance with this paragraph. This applies to squirts only. Peewees and bantams are as stated above in the first paragraph.

Overtime?

3.E.2.c. Overtime will be played to settle ties in all Level I games (except Mites), and in semi-final and final games in Level II.

Players "Rostering up " To a Higher Team

At all age levels and particularly the Bantam and Midget age levels (because of high school
tryouts) special caution needs to be taken so that players do not lose their eligibility to continue to
play for their regular team. Any player who rosters up to a higher team in their association 3 times
is automatically rostered to the higher team on his/her 3rd appearance on the higher teams game
sheet. All non-rostered players who roster up to a higher team must be clearly marked on the
                                  game sheet.

                    Eligibility for the State Tournament

In order for a player to be eligible for the state tournament a player must have played in 50% of
the minimum number of games that his/her team must have played. The state by-laws call for all
teams to play a minimum of games in their tier of "everybody once plus 6 games" . For example if
a tier has 10 teams in it, a team must play all of the other teams once (9 games) plus 6 other games
in that tier, or, 15 games (9+6). 50% of those 15 games would be 8 games (rounded up) in order
to be eligible for the Granite State League Tournament.
