COACHING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

COACHES CLINICS for 2011
Ø It will be very important for all COACHES to PLAN AHEAD to make sure they are getting the correct certification so they are not scrambling at the end of October (split season) or December (full season).
GUIDELINES for COACHES
(according to USA Hockey and the New England District)
· Clinics must be done in order...Level 1...Level 2...Level 3...Level 4...Level 5.
· Only one clinic can be completed in a given year.
· Coaches must complete an on-line Age-Specific Module for each team they are coaching. After a coach starts an Age-Specific Module, it must be complete within 14 days.
· Clinics are limited to 60 coaches (Level 2 and Level 3) and 75 coaches (Level 1).
· All clinics (Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3) will involve an on-ice session. All coaches are expected to participate.
· Clinics will be 8 hours in length and all coaches must attend the entire clinic.
· Coaches must attend and complete a clinic and the on-line Age-Specific Module by December 31 (October 31 for split season teams). If a coach (head and assistant) does not have an up to date certification and the appropriate Age-Specific Module by the DEADLINE (December 31 or October 31 for split season) they will no longer be able to be on the bench coaching or be on the ice during practice. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE.
· There is a difference between a Waiver and a Temporary Card. A WAIVER essentially exempts a coach from having to take and complete Level 2 or Level 3. Waivers will be very limited and only considered for those coaches with an outstanding hockey resume. Including playing and coaching experience. There are no waivers for Level 1 or Level 4. TEMPORARY CARDS are for those coaches that can not take a certain Level Clinic due to medical reasons or unavoidable conflicts. Temporary Cards are a one-time, one-year deal.
· All requests should be made through Larry Rocha (NH Coach-in- Chief). The best way to request a Waiver or Temporary Card is to e-mail Larry Rocha (larryjrocha@comcast.net). He will then e-mail the coach the paper work. The coach should mail the completed paper work with a check made out to USA Hockey by December 21 (October 21 for split season teams) so he can process the request prior to the USA Hockey’s deadlines (December 31 and October 31 for split season teams). NO EXCEPTIONS will be made after the December 21 (October 21 for split season teams) DEADLINES.
